Instructor Profiles

Talland offers a wealth of instructional experience, counting 2 Fellows of the British Horse Society, 2 BHSIs and 5 BHSIIs, many Talland trained themselves. The team is headed by chief instructors Pammy Hutton and her mother Molly Sivewright:

Mrs Sivewright & CAVALIER

Mrs Molly Sivewright, FBHS, FIH & FABRS

 

Mrs Sivewright is actively involved in training at Talland. She is a Fellow of the British Horse Society (FBHS), a Fellow of the Institute of the Horse (FIH) and a Fellow of the Association of British Riding Schools and, as such, is the most senior instructor at Talland. Mrs Sivewright has competed in the British Dressage Team, is a List 1 Dressage Judge and an international judge for Show Hacks and Arabs. She also has official authorisation to run courses for judges, riders and horses at National and International standard and enjoys giving a variety of lectures and demonstrations. Mrs Sivewright is also highly regarded as one of the country's leading equestrian expert witnesses and has written two widely acclaimed books in the Thinking Riding series.

 

Pammy Hutton, FBHS

 

Pammy is one of Mrs Sivewright's three daughters and is herself an FBHS. She is joint principal of The Talland School of Equitation and well known as an International Dressage rider and trainer. Pammy has a long and illustrious competition career. She was Pony Club Individual Horse Trials Champion and was a member of the British Junior European Three Day Event Team. As a senior Pammy was 2nd at Punchestown International Three Day Event on Gameel and was shortlisted for the Montreal Olympics. More recently Pammy has been in the top 12 riders in top level  Dressage for many years. She has produced all her horses from scratch to Grand Prix and has taken nine of them to International standard. Pammy is a member of the potential Olympic squad aiming for Athens and is highly regarded for her Dressage to music. On the training side Pammy has helped the Italian Horse Trials Three Day Event Team and the Irish Team for the European Championships in which they gained fourth place. Pammy was the Dressage Trainer to the Gold Medal winning Australian Three Day Event Team at the Barcelona Olympics and currently is involved in the training of three members of the Gold medal winning Paralympic team. Pammy also helps many successful Eventers and Dressage riders including Nick Gauntlett, Lucy Wiegersma, Jackie Green and Adam Kemp. Not to mention many young riders such as Amy Young and Georgie Spence as well as local Pony Club teams.

 

Brian Hutton, BHSI

Brian is joint principal, Pammy's husband and one of the senior instructors at Talland. Brian has worked and travelled internationally and has successfully trained a variety of International riders and teams for Show jumping, Eventing and Dressage. Brian was the Hong Kong Equestrian coach and during his time they won a bronze medal for Dressage at the Asian Games and the Show jumping team won the Samson Worldwide Team Competition. Brian has also ridden Point-to-Point  and NH and spent several years in charge of the Four Burrow Pony Club. Currently Brian teaches various Riding Clubs and Pony Clubs as well the VWH Pony Club show jumping team. He is in demand as a consultant and runs the farm as well as being particularly popular with Talland clients for his pre-hunting tuition.

 

Justine Sole, BHSI

 

Justine is a senior instructor at Talland. She has trained at Talland with Pammy and Mrs Sivewright for many years and is training for her fellowship. Justine is actively involved in training BYRDs and trains internationally as well as competing her young Dressage horses and riding to Grand Prix standard.

 

Gerry Sinnott, BHSII

Gerry is a senior instructor at Talland and was a member of the Irish Olympic event team at Montreal where he was individual 6th. Gerry has an impressive competition record having competed at Gatcombe, Badminton and the World Championships to name but a few. 

 

Ali Mills, BHSII

Ali has trained with Pammy for 15 years. She has competed at the National Dressage Championships on numerous occasions and has competed and been placed internationally. Ali has trained horses and people from Pony Club to advanced level and has competed successfully at Grand Prix level.

 

Richard Preston, BHS Int. SM

Richard is a senior instructor who has trained with Pammy for many years. Richard helps Pammy with the production of her and the family's competition horses, was Talland yard manager and rides to Grand Prix standard.

 

Marie Smith, BHSII

Marie has been at Talland since 1996. She has run Pammy's competition yard, competed her young horses and currently works part time as a senior instructor. Marie is also working for her BHSI and rides Pammy's youngsters.

 

Charlie Hutton, BHS PTC

Charlie is Pammy and Brian's son and a recent addition to the family team. Charlie competes at Junior international and Prix St Georges. Charlie also assists Pammy with her clinics nationally and internationally and trains with Pammy, his grandmother, Mrs Sivewright, and Henk Von Bergen.

 

Pattie Curtis, BHSAI & SSA B 

Pattie ran Mrs Sivewright's yard and is senior sidesaddle instructor. Pattie trained with Mrs Sivewright and has been at Talland for many years. Pattie also competes sidesaddle very successfully.

 

Emma Harford, BHS Int. T  & SSA B

Emma is Talland yard manager and has trained with Pammy and Mrs Sivewright for many years. As well as ensuring the welfare of Talland's many residents, equine and human, Emma also specialises in teaching side saddle and stable management.

 

 

Laura Ferrier, BHS Int. T

Laura is a senior instructor trained by Pammy who during 2006 competed in five international small tour dressage competitions and rides to Grand Prix level. Laura is much in demand as her teaching skills cover from children to Prix St Georges.
