The Talland School of Equitation

 

                             

The Talland School of Equitation is a world renowned BHS & ABRS approved equestrian centre offering top class tuition in Dressage, Show Jumping, Cross Country and Side Saddle. Talland was founded in 1958 by Mrs Molly Sivewright, who is still actively involved in the running and management of the School and Talland is run by one of her daughters, international dressage rider and trainer Pammy Hutton, FBHS with her husband Brian, BHSI and a host of other prominent instructors. 

                          

Mrs Sivewright is a Fellow of the British Horse Society, a Fellow of the Institute of the Horse and a Fellow of the Association of British Riding Schools and is the most senior Instructor at the School. She has competed in the British Dressage Team, is a List 1 Dressage Judge and an International Judge of Show Hacks and Arab Horses. She has official authorisation to run courses for judges, riders and horses at National and International standard and gives lectures and demonstrations to a wide variety of horse lovers.

As well having been a member of the Council of the British Horse Society and of the Training and Examinations and Pony Club Training Committees for a great many years Mrs Sivewright is highly regarded as one of the country’s leading expert witnesses. Mrs Sivewright has written two books in the ‘Thinking Riding’ series, both of which have been widely acclaimed in this country and abroad and has recently released a third book entitled ‘Lunging the Horse and Rider’.

The other members of the family management team are Pammy Hutton (one of three of Mrs Sivewright's daughters) herself a Fellow of the British Horse Society, her husband Brian who holds the British Horse Society Instructors Certificate and their son Charlie. Pammy combines the day to day management of the School with instructing and training top National and International competition riders whilst pursuing her own successful International competitive Dressage career. She has also evented internationally and is much sought after to give lecture demonstrations and training courses. Brian is kept busy running the farm and is also much in demand to teach and run courses at home and abroad. Charlie is a recent addition, full time, to the family team and is already successfully competing internationally as well as embarking on his teaching career. 

                       

Talland offers the opportunity to ride and train on quality horses and ponies under highly qualified instruction and watch international horses in training. There are between 85 and 100 horses from youngsters through to well trained, experienced schoolmaster competition horses allowing Talland to cater for complete beginner to Olympic level rider and train students to Fellowship level. Talland prides itself on its warm welcome to visitors of all ages and abilities and is happy to offer courses to suit the individual as well as unaccompanied children's courses throughout the holidays.                       

                

Past Talland students are spread around the world and many have forged excellent reputations for themselves both at national and international level. These include Adam Kemp (FBHS); Jeremy Michaels (FBHS), Jeremy Spring (BHSI) a member of the Irish silver winning team at the 1991 European Championships; Rodney Powell, winner of the Badminton Three Day Event 1991 and British Team Member, Anna Cassagrande (Italy) and Gerry Sinnott (Ireland). The latter being a resident member of the instructional team.
